Today 105 members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts gathered for there annual event at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. The event began with a 7:30 am check in and pick up our event package with tickets, arm bands and Quick Que cards. The main draw for the event was a one hour exclusive ride session on Cheetah Hunt a new launched roller coaster. After our hour of ride time on Cheetah Hunt some friends and I headed to Montu for some rides on this great inverted roller coaster. With no lines and two train operation we hit 8 or so rides in no time. It looks as though Montu is getting new black harnesses on the trains. I assume that currently the most recent train that has been rehabbed has the new black restraints as the original ones were yellow. So after some great rides on Montu time to head over for our lunch and other activities but first caught a quick ride on Gwazi yellow side by using our Quick Q cards. Lunch began with a short raffle for some door prizes. This years special gifts were pieces of Sheikras floor incased in acrylic. I did not win one of those but was the last winner of a gift bag that were also part of the raffle. Well, luckily for me inside the bag was a cool Cheetah Hunt shirt and one of the Sheikra floor pieces. I was so excited to add such an awesome piece to my amusement park memorabilia collection. Time for some lunch and one of the other main draws to the event was that Mark Rose the Vice President of Design and Engineering at Busch Gardens came to talk with us and answer questions about creating all the great roller coasters at the park. It was a fascinating hour of listening to some of the insights of how they created some of the roller coasters. That about raps up the event as after lunch headed for a ride on Kumba and a ride on the Skyride over looking Cheetah Hunt. Overall it was an amazing day at the park filled with great roller coasters lots of friends and a fantastic event. Below are various photos from the event including some candid shots of me, some group photos, Montus new black restraints, some photos of Cheetah Hunt, a photo op with Mark Rose of Busch Gardens and the group photo.
