The final day of the Spring Conference event held by the American Coaster Enthusiasts was at Kings Island in Kings Mill, Ohio. Sunday began with a 7:30 am arrival just in time for the morning exclusive ride time on Banshee the new B&M inverted roller coaster. I spent the first hour or so riding Banshee and then headed over to Firehawk for a ride before the park opened for the day. I then went and picked up my FastLane+ band and it was time for lots more rides on Banshee. I would spend the next several hours riding Banshee and with the Fastlane pass I was able to ride Banshee around 40 or so times over several hours. Banshee is awesome, the ride has great speed and power and has a lot of height through out the ride. All the drops are very long providing a fantastic ride experience. The various inversions on Banshee are well paced and a blast in every seat. The next few hours I would spend on Diamondback a hyper style roller coaster built by B&M. After a few rides on Diamondback it was time for the highlight of the trip. A two hour behind the scene tour of four of the parks roller coasters including back areas of the rides. Our tour began with a walk over to the Racer roller coaster and some photo time of the main drop and other areas. Next up was a walk behind Firehawk a Vekoma Flying Dutchman roller coaster. The first part of the tour ended and time to switch hosts and get a look at Diamondback and the Beast roller coasters. We headed into another behind the scene area to start our tour of Diamondback. We spent some time sitting on the grass watching the roller coaster operate. Then it was time for a look at the Beast but it was temporarily closed. The park was super cool and invited us back in a couple hours to finish the tour. So I headed for another few rides on Banshee. It was finally time to get a look at the Beast as we took a short walk under the lift and down to the first drop and tunnel area. That about raps up my experience at the park, there was a lot of other things happening during the ACE event but my priority was Banshee and the behind the scene tours. It was an amazing day at the park and Kings Island really rolled out the red carpet in every way. Many thanks to all at ACE and Kings Island for a fantastic event.
